The National Christmas Tree is located in the northeast quadrant of The Ellipse near the White House in Washington, DC. Each year since 1923, the tree has been decorated for Christmas. The lighting of the Christmas lights on the tree by the President of the United States early in December is an annual event. Since 1954, the event has marked the start of month-long festivities known as the Pageant of Peace. The National Parks Service and National Parks Foundation have been the keepers of the history of this event. While working for an agency I was hired to create a timeline of the National Tree, displaying its history in an interesting yet informative manner. This project included research of the event, photo restoration, text writing and editing, design and flash coding of the header for the timeline, and logo design for the project.
