Graphic & Web Design

Fine Arts Background

I told my mother when I was 5 years old that I wanted to go to art school. Somehow, I knew even then that this was my first love, the thing I would want to do with my life. Drawing was a favorite pastime for as long as I can remember… even leading to my first graphic design job while still in high school. Back then it was done by hand, but I drew the design decal for the high school football helmets. It’s funny, I never realized the connection between my love of drawing (which led to my career in graphic design), and my grandfather beginning and running the local town newspaper. Here I’d like to share some of my drawings from over the years. Some are simple studies, some are finished, nearly life sized portraits.

Everyone Needs a Great Graphic Designer

Having freelanced on-and-off for many years, I’ve decide to take the leap and freelance full time. The flexibility is outstanding and priceless to a parent raising a young son.  And you can’t beat the commute.  After many years of living with traffic and congestion of Washington, DC, I am looking forward to avoiding traffic and commutes for a while, breaking the cycle of stress and irritation. Best of all, freelancing allows me the ability to work when I am inspired–and yes, typical of artists, I am a night owl and I often work into the wee hours of the night.

As a designer, I strongly believe in offering creative, well thought out solutions, providing the best answers to my clients’ needs. My focus is on developing solutions that are both visually appealing and in accord with the vision and values of my clients. Some of my proudest design accomplishments include:

  • Graduating Summa Cum Laude from the Art Institute of Washington
  • Creating a book-layout for Adobe expert and author Rich Harrington
  • Working in the design department of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History, including historical demonstrations within the exhibits
  • Winning the Graphic Design USA In House Design Award
  • Winning Interactive Media Awards: Outstanding Achievement Award for my work on www.goodwill.org

I’m looking to expand my portfolio and would love to have you as a client.  I’ve been designing for years, making me well experienced and highly efficient. I enjoy small design jobs and I also love working with clients who value and need longer term relationships, no matter where you fall, let me know!
